Ready to celebrate spring by exploring PA wineries? This is the best time of year to visit—before the summer rush, while the air is still crisp, and before the vines are weighed down with the fruit of new vintages. Good tasting rooms don’t just pour wine. They create fun-filled adventures.

Wine is alive, evolving in the glass just as it does in the bottle, and a well-curated tasting room invites you into that evolution. The best wineries create spaces where guests can engage with the wine in a way that feels natural, enjoyable, and unpretentious.

In the mood for a lively tasting room, a quiet vineyard escape, or something in between? These seven PA wineries offer that and more. Grab a glass, breathe in the fresh air, and let the wines of Pennsylvania surprise you this season!

Va La Vineyards (Avondale, PA)

Va La Vineyards isn’t just a place to drink wine; it’s a place to understand it. A small, family-run winery, Va La is a winery with patience, vision, and an obsession with terroir. It operates with the kind of deep-rooted intention rarely found in an industry that often chases trends.

The tasting room is housed in a converted barn, where the feel is rustic, yet polished. Wines are poured in flights, allowing guests to explore the complexity of each field blend. And field blends are their specialty. Every Va La bottle is a true symphony of grapes grown together, harvested together, and vinified together.

The reds, like Mahogany, are strikingly earthy, with layers of tobacco, dried rose petals, and dark plum. The white blends, such as La Prima Donna, are texturally rich and structured, showcasing the region’s ability to produce wines of unexpected depth.

Penns Woods Winery (Chadds Ford, PA)

If there were ever a winery made for springtime sipping, Penns Woods would be it. Perched on a hill, the estate offers sweeping views of the vineyard, making the tasting room feel like a retreat from the everyday. With both indoor and outdoor seating, visitors can choose between a cozy fireside tasting or a breezy afternoon in the sun.

Winemaker Gino Razzi, an Italian immigrant with a deep passion for viticulture, brings old-world winemaking techniques to Pennsylvania soil. The result? Wines that are elegant yet approachable.

Penns Woods’ Viognier is a must-try, bursting with white peach, honeysuckle, and a whisper of almond. Ameritage, a Bordeaux-style red blend, is equally enticing, its velvety tannins supporting layers of blackberry, leather, and a hint of dark chocolate. If you are looking for something with some sweetness, Penns Woods’ Moscato is truly able to compete in the global market with delicate floral and juicy peach notes.

Pair your tasting with one of their charcuterie boards (the cheese selection is epic), and you have the makings of a perfect spring afternoon!

Bishop Estate Vineyard & Winery (Perkasie, PA)

Bishop Estate takes a different approach to wine by prioritizing fun, accessibility, and a relaxed atmosphere. Housed in a former dairy barn, this winery refuses to take itself too seriously, offering wines with names like Overworked Dry Riesling and Dark Bishop Cabernet Sauvignon.

This is a winery for people who want to enjoy wine without the pretense. The tasting room is lively and inviting, with fire pits, live music, and a rotating selection of food trucks. Will your favorite food truck make an appearance? Check Bishop Estate’s website calendar to find out.

While Bishop Estate’s reds are popular, its Autumn Goddess – a blend of Cayuga and Vidal Blanc – steals the show in warmer weather. Light, aromatic, and slightly off-dry, it’s the kind of wine that begs to be enjoyed outdoors. Especially with some live music!

For those who prefer something bolder, the Revelation is a standout red  thanks to its rich, full-body and deep blackberry, cocoa, and spice notes.

Stone & Key Cellars (Ambler, PA)

Stone & Key Cellars doesn’t just make wine. It creates an entire experience. The tasting room has an industrial-chic vibe, a nod to its roots as a custom winemaking facility. Guests can taste through a wide range of wines, from crisp Sauvignon Blancs to bold Petite Sirahs.

What sets this winery apart is its dual focus on wine and cider. This is a serious cidery. Stone & Key’s barrel-aged ciders are some of the best in the region, offering a refreshing alternative for those looking to mix things up.

For red wine lovers, Stone & Key’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a must-try. Aged in oak barrels, it carries deep, brooding flavors of blackberry, vanilla, and a hint of smokiness.

Grace Winery (Glen Mills, PA)

A vineyard, a historic barn, and a luxury escape all rolled into one! Tucked away on an historic estate, Grace Winery is part vineyard, part retreat. The tasting room, housed in a beautifully restored 1750s barn, radiates warmth and sophistication. The wines are classic and refined, with a focus on balance and restraint.

Grace’s Merlot is particularly noteworthy, offering plush red fruit, subtle spice, with a lingering finish. Grace’s Rosé is equally impressive, a delicate blend of bright strawberry and citrus notes. These two are definitely some of my go-to spring time drinks.

Looking to extend your visit? Grace Winery offers luxurious accommodations, making it an ideal weekend getaway.

Blue Mountain Vineyards (New Tripoli, PA)

While a bit farther from our region, Blue Mountain Vineyards is well worth the trip. Set against the backdrop of the Appalachian Mountains, this winery offers a setting that feels almost cinematic. The tasting room is incredibly spacious, with large windows that frame the vineyard and mountains beyond.

Blue Mountain’s wines are European in style, with a focus on dry, structured reds. The Chambourcin, a signature varietal for Pennsylvania, is particularly well done—earthy, complex, and reminiscent of a cool-climate Syrah. On a sunny day, there are few better places to sip a glass of wine and take in the view, especially after a little hike!

Chaddsford Winery (Chadds Ford, PA)

One of the most established names in Pennsylvania wine, Chaddsford Winery has been crafting thoughtful, approachable wines since 1982. Now under the experienced direction of the Vinton family, who also own NJ’s award-winning White Horse Winery, Chaddsford is set in the rolling hills of the Brandywine Valley. Chaddsford embraces both tradition and innovation, producing wines that showcase the best of the region.

The tasting room is warm and inviting, with a relaxed atmosphere that encourages lingering over a flight. Outside, picnic tables and Adirondack chairs dot the property, making it an easy place to settle in with a glass and soak in the surroundings.

Chaddsford’s wines span a broad spectrum, appealing to both purists and those looking for something a little more playful. The Proprietors Reserve Red is a well-structured blend, full of dark fruit and soft tannins, while the crisp, citrus-driven Sauvignon Blanc offers an ideal sip. In search of something a little different? You’ll love Chaddsford’s spiced wine, a seasonal favorite served warm and infused with cinnamon, clove, and orange peel.

Beyond the wine, Chaddsford knows how to create an experience. It’s the kind of place where a quick tasting can easily turn into an entire afternoon, with good wine, good company, and the relaxed charm of Pennsylvania wine country.

Willow Creek Winery (Cape May, NJ)

Up for a scenic drive? Willow Creek Winery in Cape May is a destination worth visiting! Willow Creek’s grand tasting room, surrounded by lush vineyards, makes for a memorable experience. The Rosé is a highlight—crisp, fruit-forward, and perfect for warm spring days. Pro tip: make sure to grab some Sweet Amelia’s Oysters while you are in the area.
