Artillery Brewing in Pottstown is the award-winning brewery’s largest venue yet, a 100-seat open space that blends local heritage, reclaimed materials, and comfort food favorites. And, it is officially open to the public.

Artillery Brewing Company, the award-winning craft brewery that won “Best New Brewery” in the Best of the Main Line 2022 and 2024, is known for its high-quality beer and signature, Revolutionary War-themed brand. Now, Artillery is celebrating the grand opening of The Citadel Taproom, located at the historic corner of High and Charlotte Streets in downtown Pottstown, PA. Standard operating hours will be Wednesday to Sunday, 11 AM to midnight.

Housed in a building that once operated as the Strand Theater, later a J.C. Penney, and most recently home to Lastick Flooring, the fully renovated space marks a new chapter in both Artillery’s growth and Pottstown’s downtown renaissance. The Citadel Taproom brings fresh energy and bold personality to a place rich with local history.

“Pottstown is primed for an economic resurgence, and Artillery wants to be part of that growth,” said Riley Connell, Artillery’s general manager. “This town has a lot of history and character – and a great community of people. Artillery wants to be a catalyst in Pottstown’s revitalization.”

Many of Artillery’s design details pay tribute to Pottstown’s industrial past and neighborhood pride. The restroom exteriors feature salvaged wood from the former 133 High Street ice cream parlor. A retired mash tun now serves as a focal point above the restrooms, while a vintage church pulpit acts as a hostess stand for incoming guests. Throughout the space, steel ceiling beams, aged wood, and period accents connect the old with the new.

In addition to its unique interior space, thoughtfully designed and built by Rockwell Development Group, The Citadel Taproom delivers on flavor, comfort, and experience. The tap list showcases Artillery’s most celebrated beers, crafted with precision and creativity. The bar also features a selection of Pennsylvania-made craft spirits.

“At each of our locations, we offer great beer and great food with a neighborhood bar feel that is welcoming to everyone, especially sports fans and families, Connell said. “And now, we’ve created that in Pottstown,” Connell said.

Guests can enjoy a full array of food options by Deezy’s Famous Cheesesteaks, curated by head chef and owner, Dale Sizer. The regionally-known food truck brand will have its beloved menu served fresh from Artillery’s Citadel Taproom kitchen. Menu favorites include handcrafted burgers, crispy fries, and authentic Philly-style cheesesteaks, with vegetarian options available.

Artillery’s Pottstown location has a family-friendly environment that features nine HD flatscreen TVs for high-quality sports viewing, live music every weekend, trivia and karaoke nights, and happy hour specials from Wednesday through Friday, 4–7 PM.

“Our arrival in Pottstown marks the latest chapter in Artillery Brewing’s journey,” said co-founder Mike Loveless. “From those early days on a farm in 2019 to our first taproom in West Chester, we never imagined how far we’d come. Pottstown’s vision for revitalization is both ambitious and inspiring, and we’re honored to play a part in it. Our goal is to create a high-energy destination where people gather over great beer, enjoy top-tier sports viewing, and feel part of a vibrant community.”
