Valley Forge Casino’s New Spa Is A Jackpot Of Holistic Healing

by Melissa Jacobs

Think Valley Forge Casino is all about games, food, drink, and high roller fun? It is. But the just-opened Valley Spa is a luxurious oasis offering facials and massages from top-notch staff members well versed in holistic healing.

Tucked away on the mezzanine level of Valley Forge Casino, Valley Spa is the latest venture of Beth Trachtman, owner of The Massage Studio in King of Prussia. Trachtman is a KOP native and graduate of Upper Merion High School who was raised by wellness-minded parents to embrace natural forms of health and beauty. “My mom cooked our food from scratch,” Trachtman remembered. “We made face masks from yogurt and turmeric, and our best medicine was sleep and chicken soup.”

Trachtman’s interest in holistic care stemmed from her childhood and blossomed into The Massage Studio, which she opened in 2008. At first a solo practice, The Massage Studio now has four massage rooms, skin care, a Himalayan salt cavern, and retail space.

Valley Spa at Valley Forge Casino allows Trachtman to showcase a different side of the healing arts. Bathed in low light and decorated with Oriental rugs, wood, and premium fabrics, Valley Spa feels like a five-star oasis. “I wanted it to feel like you are stepping into a luxurious space,” Trachtman said. “I want our guests to feel pampered and relaxed.”

A 60-minute signature massage with Yenifer began with a gentle scalp massage in a candle-lit room filled with calming music. Using perfect pressure, Yennifer worked on knot-riddled shoulders, incorporating essential oils, hot stones and various parts of her hands to relax muscles in the upper and lower back, paying particular attention to unhappily bulging discs and a cranky sciatica. Finished with a foot massage, the therapeutic  treatment was simply amazing.

Valley Spa’s facials are next-level. In addition to extractions and exfoliation, Desiree used steam, warm towels and her expert fingers to soothe and revitalize tired skin. She also used plant-based skin care products to cleanse and hydrate the face, shoulders and décolletage, which produced a clean, healthy glow.

Clean, healthy, plant-based and chemical-free are Trachtman’s priorities when it comes to wellness. “What you put on your body 100% effects your entire system,” she said. “That’s true for food, drink, skincare and everything else.”

There are plenty of food, drink and other chemical-full indulgences elsewhere in the casino. “That’s why the spa offers cleansing and rejuvenation,” Trachtman said. “Very serious players need that balance. If you don’t have it, you’ll crash and not play well. A few hours at our spa can be very restorative – to your wellness and your game.”
