5 Hot Home Décor Trends For Spring

Behind-The-Scenes Of AmericasMart Atlanta Home Décor Show

by Patricia Mae Olson, home editor

What are the must-have home décor trends for spring? I just got back from AmericasMart gift, home and accessory trade show in Atlanta where I spotted trends and styles that will carry us through 2023. One of the perks of working in this industry is getting a sneak peek of what is to come. That always has me excited about the future.

There was a lot to see. AmericasMart is 6.2 million square feet of showrooms and booths, composed of three buildings in downtown Atlanta with almost 20 floors in each building. The market attracts more than 250,000 store owners and interior designers from across the country. It’s exhausting, exhilarating and fun all at the same time.

Ready to go behind the scenes? Here are the top trends I spotted during my visit.

Sportif

Have you noticed the sportif trend in fashion? It started with athleisure, (think yoga pants) then moved to sportif with tennis dresses and skorts. Well, the same trend is happening with interiors. I spotted tea towels and cocktail napkins with preppy tennis motifs and lots of pickleball pieces! I even noticed this trend in tabletop decor and wallpaper. Why not host a tennis party with your doubles partner or wallpaper your powder room in your favorite hobby?

Garden Party

Garden party is here to stay! I might be biased, as it was the theme for my wedding in September. But this trend became popular with the Netflix show “Bridgerton,” and after walking around the market I’m sure it is here to stay. Think butterflies, flowers and greenery. I saw pillows with butterfly prints, flower painted cachepots, even furniture with stitched 3D butterfly embellishments.

Gold Accents

Remember when silver was everywhere and then shifted to gold? I continue to see gold reining supreme in 2023. I noticed gold bamboo trims on trays, gold accented pillows and gold rimmed cups.

Colored Glass

Speaking of cups, colorful glassware and barware is a strong trend. Vintage inspired, this trend came onto the market with Estelle Colored Glasses a few years ago. Now, there are many affordable options.

Ornaments All Year

Finally, after 2020, we are celebrating everything, every holiday and every occasion. There are light-up retro “Christmas trees” (the kind your grandmother had) painted pink and red for the Valentine’s Day. Those popular blow-up ornaments by Holiballs now have blow-up Easter eggs to scatter through your yard come spring.

I can’t wait to see more of these trends this year at our local stores and businesses!
