Matching Sets, Powder Pink And Florals

by Diane Oliva, style editor

The days are longer, daffodils are poking their heads out of the just-thawed earth, and there is the scent of renewal in the air. It’s spring on the Main Line! Ladies, it’s time to push the heavy sweaters and coats to the back of the closet and try some of the latest spring trends, all of which can be found right here on the Main Line. The spring trends are clear – consisting of new colors, prints and silhouettes.  Let’s shop!

Powder pink options from Posh Collections in Malvern.

Two of the hottest colors right now are powder blue and powder pink, a very refreshing change from last year’s Barbie pink and cobalt blue. These colors are the perfect addition to your spring wardrobe refresh. Choose one or two separates to add a pop of color to your existing looks of navy, black or gray – and white or tan in the summer.  These colors work with everything.

Find this look at Tish Boutique in West Chester.

Florals for spring….Groundbreaking, right? Well, these are! Gone are the bold, loud prints of the past. The new trends mix smaller, subtle prints with feminine silhouettes. Note the powder blue influence as well.

Matching sets are another trend seen everywhere this spring. Why didn’t we do this sooner? Matching sets provide a chic, cohesive look when worn together and so many options when worn as separates.

Jacket silhouettes are looser and bit boxier vs. the fitted options we saw in prior seasons. The timeless lady jacket is my personal favorite. This can be styled so many ways – with jeans, trousers, wide leg shorts, or over a dress. The proportions work great with everything from slim jeans to palazzo pants.  Want something more relaxed? Opt for an unstructured jacket with cool denim trim, or layer a checked, oversized blazer with a hoodie underneath for warmth in the transition months.

Let’s not forget accessories.  The dainty designs of last year are now being replaced with unapologetically big, bold pieces in gold, silver and gemstones.

Chunky jewelry from Per Lei in Newtown Square.

Gold accessories from J. Tyler Jewelry in Wayne.

Whatever your style, budget or lifestyle, the boutiques on the Main Line have you covered!
