New Vintage Is Dedicated To The Memory of Grace Winery’s Namesake
by Melissa Jacobs
On June 15, the Inn at Grace Winery released Gracie Red, a new wine honoring owner Chris LeVine’s sister Grace, who owned the estate until her untimely death in 1999. The bottles are inscribed with a special message from LeVine. “As a tribute to the namesake of our winery, the Gracie Red blend is a sweet memory to the sister who will always be in my heart.”
The name Grace carries special meaning to the family; LeVine’s aunt was Grace Kelly, the Philadelphia actress who became Princess of Monaco. The Inn at Grace Winery’s main house, which holds a fine dining restaurant, is accented with framed photos, tartan plaid and mementos that quietly honor the LeVines’ family history.
As for Gracie Red, the newly improved wine is sweeter than Grace’s other reds, which include 1734, Dragonfly and a cabernet Franc. “We reintroduced Gracie Red to round out our portfolio and offer a sweeter wine,” said Andrew Yingst, Grace’s head winemaker.Gracie Red was bottled in late May along with the winery’s chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and rosé. In total, Yingst released close to 5,000 bottles of five vintages.
Grace’s wines are available for purchase through its website and at the Inn at Grace Winery, 50 Sweetwater Road in Glen Mills, PA. Nestled into 35 acres of the Brandywine Valley, the Inn at Grace Winery is an oasis of fine wine and food, five-star accommodations and a renovated 1750s-era barn that hosts weddings, corporate events and a tasting room. Please check Grace’s calendar for hours and reservations.
